WineBot

WineBot is a robot that can taste and tell the kind of wine using a beam of infrared light from its left arm to a bottle. It is designed by the researchers at NEC System Technologies and Mie University. A demonstration has been done on a bottle of Shiraz at a laboratory in Tsu, central Japan on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. Some of the light is absorbed and analyzed in real time to determine the object’s chemical content. The designer of Winebot said that it is able to identify dozens of different kinds of wine, cheeses and hors d’oeuvres.
